Trauma and Fractures
by Ronald R. Romanelli, M.D.

Trauma can occur from high energy injuries or low energy injuries that result from enough force to cause a fracture or significant trauma within our bodies. After careful physical examination and the use of x-rays and occasionally specialized testing, the doctor will come up with a conclusion for the treatment of your orthopedic factures or injuries. This may consist of simple casting or at times, certain fractures are severe enough to require surgical techniques to restore the patient back to a normal level of function.

Trauma usually results from high energy injuries and fractures will occur with high velocity injuries or low velocity injuries. There are many types of fractures within the body. The orthopedic surgeon is specialized to be able to handle all types of fractures and treatment and restore patients back to a healthy well-being.
