Midwest Rehab is able to provide businesses with ergonomic consultations, which examine how workers interact with their work environment. We offer video analyses to assess ergonomic risk factors such as repetitive motion, awkward postures, equipment vibration or heavy lifting that can result in work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Our professionals use evaluation tools recognized by NIOSH.
If ergonomic risk factors are present, our assessment may recommend modifying the work area or providing instruction to workers on techniques to modify their work practices to reduce the chance for injuries.
Our therapists are also available for job-site analysis of a company’s work environment. We identify essential job functions and evaluate reasonable accommodations to aid companies in developing written job descriptions or job matching. The resulting written report provides information that helps a business be more successful in hiring and retaining qualified employees.
Additionally, we offer customized presentations to companies and their employees, explaining how proper movement and positioning can prevent injuries and lost time.
You might need job-site analysis if:
- You need documented critical job demands.
- You have a work area of high risk and are looking to reduce the risk.
- You are not sure if the job is repetitive.
- You need to match an employee to a job.
- You need to accommodate a job for an employee.
- You need documented critical job demands.
Tracey Maras, MA, OTR/L, CEES, has been performing job-site analysis of work environments for over 10 years. She is able to aid a company in developing written job descriptions and identifying the presence and severity of risk factors for the potential development of musculoskeletal disorders, developing a plan for intervention, and/or reasonable accommodations. An evaluation may require 1-4 hours onsite for measuring and videotaping the job specific tasks, depending upon the complexity of the job.
